The President: Siegelman Released

PardonPower has followed the case of former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman (D) in several posts:
* The President: Siegelman and Scrushy?
* The President: 60 Minutes Report
* The President: Another Perspective on Siegelman

Today, a federal appeals court has ordered that he be released from prison on bond since he is not a flight risk and his 11th circuit appeal will raise "substantial questions of law or fact." A House Judiciary Committee will also be asking Siegelman to testify in its inquiry into "selective prosecutions" - something his attorney says he is "emphatically" eager to do. Siegelman has been in prison since June of June 2007, serving out a seven-year sentence for bribery, conspiracy to commit mail fraud, mail fraud and obstruction of justice. See story here.
