Arkansas: 2 Pardons. Rejections
Governor Mike Beebe has pardoned two people and denied clemency or taken no action on the applications of 73 others. people. Among the denials were two convicted killers. In 2006, the State Parole Board actually recommended clemency for Kenneth L. Slocum, who says he is innocent of the murder for which he was charged. The recommendation of the Board was that his sentence be commuted to 15 years. The Board also recommended that Roger Hobgood be made eligible for parole immediately. Hobgood, is serving a life sentence for the death of his former mother-in-law. See story here.
