Arkansas: AG Not Happy With Clemency Hearing

It is reported that Attorney General Dustin McDaniel believes the recent Parole Board hearing which ended in a 4-3 decision to recommend a commutation of the death sentence of Frank Williams Jr. (to life in prison without parole) was an "ambush." McDaniel is said to complain that "the hearing too closely resembled a retrial" and that "such hearings aren't supposed to be a whole new trial on all the merits of the case." As a result of the experience, McDaniel and his office will "treat clemency hearings differently" from this point forward. See story here.
