The President: Pardon (And Its Reporting) Remembered

It was two years ago today that CNN's Washington Bureau reported on a presidential pardon in this manner:

By granting absolution to a convicted moonshiner, George W. Bush also earned the unique distinction of becoming the first president to pardon a cast member of the 1972 Academy Award-nominated movie "Deliverance."
Yep. See it here to believe it. Sometimes, when the race is on to be the first to claim the discovery of "unprecedented" political behavior, it can get difficult to discern whether or not one is looking at the reporting of respected national media or the publicity stunts of a comedy team. In the words of Monty Python:
Never before in the history of human civilization has there been a movie called "Monty Python Live at the Hollywood Bowl."
True. Accurate. But, ultimately, just very silly.
