The News-Gazette has an interesting story on one Jerry Miller who served almost 25 years in prison for a rape, robbery and kidnapping, crimes he did not commit. He was actually sentenced to 45 years in prison, but was exonerated in April of 2007. The News-Gazette reports Miller was the "200th person in the United States to have his name cleared based on DNA evidence." The Cook County state's attorney's office issued an immediate apology but Miller is still waiting on a pardon from Governor Rod Blagojevich (he and thousands of others) Meanwhile, the Governor's office continues to assure those who have waited for years and years that he takes the clemency power "seriously."
