WBIR reports Staff Sergeant Raymond Girouard will be making efforts to obtain a presidential pardon. Girouard has served three years of a 10 year sentence that he received for "negligent homicide." Three subordinates claimed that he ordered them to kill Iraqi detainees in May 2006. Girouard's lawyers have asked individuals to write letters to President Bush or Tennessee lawmakers on his behalf. The formal application will be filed this Monday, but the goal is to obtain a pardon before Bush leaves office. See story here.
