An Almost Too Convenient Truth

Who knows where this Toussie thing is going? Maybe all the way to the United States Supreme Court. Maybe Bush reissues the pardon (as has been done before) and that is the end of it.

Regardless, if this pardon (non-pardon) beats the odds and somehow enters the fairly small pantheon of "controversial" pardons that are long-remembered (our strong tendency is to forget), then the fact of the matter is that it will also be remembered as the pardon that was deep-sixed because George W. Bush's standards were such that he could not tolerate even the appearance of impropriety (like campaign contributions by a recipient's father). Now, you have to admit. That is a pretty nice historical card to have played over and over and over.

No, Bush is no Clinton! Bush is no Clinton, get it? That stuff that went on in the Clinton administration is not tolerated in the Bush administration. Get it? Now, if anyone wants to go back to those days (by confirming Eric Holder as U.S. Attorney General), then they are welcomed to do so, but not Bush. Capiche?
