Obama: Request

Father Jose Superiaso was found guilty of molesting a 12-year-old girl in 1995, but insisted he was innocent. He now asking for a presidential pardon from Barack Obama. An accompanying letter says Superiaso's "incarceration for more than five years in the California Rehabilitation Center in Norco, California" has "already satisfied the rehabilitative and reformative intent of incarceration." The applications also comes with the desire for Superiaso to "return to his native land" in the Philippines "where he could revert to his spiritual duties and responsibilities." See story here.

The priest was convicted in state court. He is thus ineligible for a presidential pardon. He needs to ask the governor.
