Watch List: Ramos and Compean. Sentences Commuted

In what the Associated Press is describing as "his final acts of clemency," President Bush has commuted the prison sentences of Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean to expire on March 20. The conditions of supervised release and thousands of dollars in fines will stand for both men

According to the AP, "Nearly the entire bipartisan congressional delegation from Texas and other lawmakers from both sides of the political aisle pleaded with Bush to grant them clemency." At least 150 members of Congress supported the application. The agents have served about 2 years of their 10- and 11- year sentences.

PardonPower wonders what prosecutor Johnny Sutton (a close friend of President Bush) has to say about the release. With the commutations, Bush has granted a total of 189 pardons and 11 commutations. See story here and here.
