North Carolina: Request

Barbara M. Geiger shot her sleeping husband twice, wrapped up his lifeless body and tossed him in the basement. She then took a vacation to Florida. In 1996, she was arrested at a beach resort, tried and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Now, she is 67-years old, claiming she was in an abusive relationship and looking for a commutation of sentence. See story here.

There are hundreds of non violent people waiting for pardons in North Carolina. There has not been one pardon in 9 years that did not involve someone being found innocent by DNA. There is no chance of a pardon here!! Governor Easley sucked about giving pardons and it looks like Bev Perdue is following in his foot steps.

This was premeditated murder! She threw out all of his things while he was visiting his daughters in Atlanta and when he came home on Sunday night he went to sleep and she shot him 2x in the head. Her bruising probably came from dragging his dead body down 2 flights of stairs to the basement. If she thinks this is excusable she is wrong. Think again Barbara!

I believe in pardons but she had a choice in the matter. EVERYONE can leave such circumstances and that is what she should have done.

People do stupid things, stealing money, breaking into houses, etc but premeditated murder isn't just a stupid act it is a heinous one.

I believe Barbara Geiger is deserves clemency for time served. She has been victim of poor legal representation which did not fully present her case in 1996. North Carolina has a tradition of fairness and I hope our new Governor can and will relook at this injustice. The Constitution is unequivical on the right of full disclosure in a court of law before a jury of our peers. An error of omission has been committed here and should be researched and justly reversed. Barbara Geiger should be freed with clemency for time served.

If Barbara felt she had poor legal advice she could have hired another team of attorney's. Her Daughter and son could have handled this for her as well. I know she has been there for 13 years and had plenty of time to plot and scheme on how to get out. I think everyone who has done something like this would do the same thing. Why not you have nothing to loose. All they can & will say is NO! Not a chance!

Well looks like Barbara will have to stay in her cell for the rest of her life! Karma is real!

I truly believe that Barbara Geiger should stay in jail for life. she as a nurse took a oath to save lives not to take a life. Barbara was never abused by jim Geiger he was a loving caring person. to all he knew. she really messed up her childrens life and her familys life with the decision she made the day she choose to kill jim instead of walking away.
