Korea: 1.5 Million Pardons

The Korea Herald reports President Lee Myung-bak "plans" to offer an amnesty, or "special pardon," on the 15th of next month to about 1.5 million citizens who have been "convicted of economic crimes." There is one qualification, however. The pardon will not be extended to "public officials and businessmen." Last year, Lee pardoned leaders from Hyundai Motors, SK and Hanwha groups that had been convicted of bribery, embezzlement and violence. See story here.
