Kansas: Pardon
Gov. Mark Parkinson has granted his first pardon. It was granted to Samuel Jarvis "Jerry" Hunt who has spent four decades "running from a possible prison sentence for a 1969 Sedgwick County conviction for third-degree robbery." Hunt was actually convicted with 7 other defendants after a seven-week trial and faced up to 21 years in prison. Four of the defendants were sentenced to probation, but Hunt and two others fled. See story here.
