Pardon John Brown?

David S. Reynolds, author of John Brown, Abolitionist: The Man Who Killed Slavery, Sparked the Civil War, and Seeded Civil Rights has the perfect book promotion gimic. He is calling on both President Obama and the governor of Virginia to pardon John Brown, who was hanged back in 1859. And Reynolds has started a petition online. We suppose Brown would have to take a number, behind Jack Johnson, Marcus Garvey, Samuel Mudd, O. Henry, Ellis H. Parker and who knows how many others. But Reynolds says there are "compelling reasons for the pardon."
