The Dayton Daily News reports that Gov. Ted Strickland has granted executive clemency to 39 people. 33 persons were granted pardons and 6 received commutations. At the same time he denied clemency in 137 cases. None of the cases involved the death penalty, and most are said to be "associated with minor or nonviolent offenses" (including theft, burglary, passing bad checks, drug trafficking and marijuana possession).
