Obama: Data on the 17

President Obama, the second slowest president in history to exercise the clemency power, has granted 17 pardons and 0 commutations of sentence to date. 10 of the 17 pardon recipients were never sentenced to prison to begin with. Only 7 had attorneys representing them in the application process. The average distance between sentencing and clemency is 26.3 years, but the average application took 4.3 years to process (the longest 8.2 years). The average known age of recipients is 60.

what is the average if you take out the one at 8.2 years?

The average would be less but still much too long.

EDITOR-Without the 8.2, the average falls to 4.0
