The Republic has an informative coverage of nine "pardon extraordinary" decisions from Minnesota. Among them was 71-year-old Merle Bench who stole $8,000 from a non-profit eight years ago. Arguing on his behalf was former Republican Governor Al Quie. Other pardons were granted for theft, drug crimes and disorderly conduct, "some dating to the 1970s."
