Illinois: 179 Clemency Grants

Former Illinois Rod Blagojevich left a tremendous backlog of clemency applications on his desk, just before he hopped off to federal prison. Gov. Pat Quinn has done an amazing job of attempting to address that inexcusable neglect. Today, it is reported that Quinn has granted 179 clemency requests. He has also denied 425 petitions. It is reported that the Governor has "roughly 3,000 petitions with weeks left before Republican Gov.-elect Bruce Rauner takes office."  See story here.
