Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon issued 9 pardons to individuals who have "already served their sentences for various nonviolent misdemeanors and felonies." An official statement said the pardons were granted after "a great deal of consideration and seriousness." Nixon also said each of the individuals had "demonstrated the ability and willingness to turn his or her life around and become a contributing member of society, including two who served honorably in our nation's military."
