Illinois: 7 Pardons

It is reported that Gov. Bruce Rauner (Rep.) has granted seven pardons and denied 247 other clemency applications. Rauner's office says the seven all have "been subject to a recent criminal background check" and they "received pardons with expungement, allowing them to ask a court to remove their convictions from their records." Among the offenses addressed in the grants were: burglary, theft, forgery, reckless driving and methamphetamine conspiracy. It is also reported that former Gov. Quinn (Dem.) left a backlog "of about 1,000 petitions." It is the sixth time Rauner has acted on clemency petitions since taking office in January. See story here. and here.
